pre production and production diary documentary
Once I had an idea on what to do for my documentary I then started to put things into action.
Finding the cast
In order to get the results I want I need to get the right cast. This was easy as I asked my three friends Richard/Ben and Elliot. The three agreed to be apart of this and I made them sign the correct paper work needed. My cast mainly consisted of media students which would help me with my digital age documentary as they will be able to give me the answers I need.
Room/location
Once my cast was ready I then needed to find a room to set up in and begin my production. I asked a lecturer if I could use the college studio and filled out a location and risk assessment form to asses the risks of the studio. The studio was quite big and had plenty of space which was great as I could set up the scene I want and get the best results. I had the room booked for about a week which give me enough time to set up and film my interview.
Equipment
The equipment I used, Canon camera DSLR which was great as this gave us some clear footage and a good quality clip. Also the camera came with a directional Mic which could be attached to the camera which gave me clear and editable audio. In order to keep the camera steady I used a tripod which was really simple to use and easy to get my hands on as I asked the college for this. Lastly I had to get an 32 GB SD card which would store all my footage. This is highly important as if I run out of storage whilst filming this could be a big problem.
Risks
Before setting up in the studio I had to identify the risks. This is important as if I don't do this I am putting myself and my crew at risk.
SET UP
The set up I used was quite simple and the interview I set up consisted of a table with two chairs around it with the main focus the director sitting in the middle. The camera was set up in the corner so it got the whole shot in one. We didn't use any lighting as we didn't need it as the cameras brightness was good enough.
